The “International Conference on Life Education and Wellbeing,” hosted by The Education University of Hong Kong, took place from December 1 to 3 in Hong Kong. Dr. Ouyang Baixiao of the Faculty of Education, City University of Macao, presented a paper titled “Macao Secondary School Teachers’ Self-Efficacy in Providing Career-Related Support to Students: A Preliminary Validation.”

The study, funded by the Macao Foundation, aimed to validate the applicability of the Chinese version of the Teachers’ Career Education Self-Efficacy Scale (TCSSE) and investigate the current status of career education self-efficacy among Macao secondary school teachers. The results demonstrated that the TCSSE possesses good reliability and validity among Macao teachers, making it an effective instrument for assessing secondary school teachers’ career education self-efficacy.
Furthermore, the study found significant correlations between Macao secondary school teachers’ career education self-efficacy and their life satisfaction, stress levels, and career adaptability. These findings will provide a scientific evaluation tool for the professional development of secondary school teachers in career education in Macao and the wider Greater Bay Area, thereby better supporting students’ career planning.
